IDAS in the Alps

This is the view from IDAS. One photo is from the airport, the other from breakfast. It’s my first full day of the International Debate Academy Slovenia, and it looks as if it’s going to be great. Of course, the thing about this workshop is how incredibly busy it is. There are about 104 students attending and 13 instructors. The day is full of debating practice and events. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve taught here so getting back in the groove might be challenging. Yesterday my jet lag was non-existent so I jumped right into a practice debate on the funding of religious schools. Today there are 2 practices, 3 instructional sessions, and a lot in between. Plenty more to come!

Adelphi Tournament Results

It seems I forgot to post the motion from the Finals, so here it is:

Finals: This House believes that all countries with indigenous populations should grant those populations total sovereignty.

Adelphi ran a fantastic tournament with tons of food, coffee, really nice rooms to debate in, and really friendly folks to help everyone out.  I think next season this tournament might run in the spring, and I highly encourage you to attend.

Portland State University has won the 2010 Adelphi Brown and Gold Debate Tournament! Congratulations to them and to everyone who finaled.
